Meet the chef

Maddy Goldberg,
chef, creator, giver.

Chef Maddy Goldberg at Contrada

Chef Maddy Goldberg, Founder of Cook Eat.

The story

Maddy cooks like a fine-dining chef and feeds people like family.

Maddy was studying social work at the University of Guelph when she started an Instagram account called Cook Eat Sleep Repeat, sharing the meals she made on a student budget. Her approachable, generous cooking found an audience fast, and today more than 100,000 people follow along for her recipes, tips and stories from the kitchen.

She trained at George Brown College and sharpened her craft in some of Toronto's most respected kitchens, including Mary Be Kitchen, Aloette and Salon by Alo, where she learned French fine dining at full intensity.

Then she chose a different path. Maddy founded Cook Eat, her private dining and recipe development company, so she could cook close to the people she feeds and build giving back into everything she does. Every private dinner she cooks sends ten percent to a charity chosen by the host.

"I don't care who I'm cooking for, it's the same food."

Giving back

Fine dining at the food bank.

Every week, Maddy walks the shelves of the Fort York Food Bank, picks the one or two ingredients that excite her, and turns donations into a hot, thoughtful lunch for more than a hundred people. Chefs across the city now send her their surplus so it can find new life on those plates. Her videos from the food bank kitchen have reached audiences far beyond Toronto, and a portion of every Sip + Supper ticket goes to the Fort York Food Bank in her honour.
